The decision on whether or not Uber can legally operate in upstate New York is expected in Albany this month.

Uber currently only has permission to operate in New York City, but if the bill is passed, it and other ride-sharing apps could expand their services to cities like Binghamton. However, it is unclear if Uber will be able to accommodate riders who take cabs provided by Medicaid.

It’s been about two months since the medicinal cannabis facility, Vireo Health, opened its doors in Johnson City, following the approval of The Compassion Care Act in New York.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders visited Binghamton today, about a week before the Democratic nominee in New York will be selected. Thousands of Sanders supporters enthusiastically flocked downtown to hear him speak.

New York ranks fourth in the nation in solar technology jobs, according to an annual report from the Solar Foundation. The state has more more than 8,000 postions in the field.

The industry’s growth is due to a substantial increase in residential installations, according to the report.
