The First Five: Child Care, Early Ed, And Government

Mar 10, 2015

Child care and early childhood education continue to draw the attention of policymakers at the state and national levels. New York Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie recently reconvened the Assembly's child care work group, and President Obama mentioned it in his 2015 State of the Union address. The way states (and nations) tackle these issues can directly influence parents' ability to find quality care.

This Community Conversation focused on childcare and early education policy. We had interviews with U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and U.S Rep. Richard Hanna of New York. Other guests include Laura Bornfreund of the New America Foundation, Peigi Cook of the Corning Children's Center and Jenine Cleary of the Human Resources Association of the Twin Tiers.
