Governor Calls On PA Lawmakers To Protect Access To Birth Control

Governor Tom Wolf is calling on the state legislature to require employers provide birth control coverage in their health insurance plans. That coverage had been required under the Affordable Care Act, but the Trump Administration has taken steps to weaken the mandate.The state Insurance Department estimates 2.5 million Pennsylvania women directly benefit from the Affordable Care Act's contraceptive mandate, which required companies to provide insurance that covers birth control as preventive care--at no cost to the employee.
