PA Senator Bob Casey Is In The (Economic Development) Zone

Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa, has proposed two bills to help struggling communities deal with lost jobs or trying to create new ones. Both the Promise Zone Job Creation Act of 2017 and the Community Economic Assistance Act aim to respond to local need with a speedy infusion of federal support. 


Part of the economic growth strategy Gov. Andrew Cuomo laid out in his State of the State speech in Syracuse includes the creation of high-tech jobs. Cuomo announced the state will invest $30 million into the Saab company, which will add about 250 new jobs to Syracuse and make its facility their new North American headquarters.

(WRVO) The proposed nanotechnology center in Marcy is losing its main investor after the project has become entangled in the state corruption scandal involving the governor’s upstate development programs. The Austrian company AMS, AG has pulled out of the 450-acre Nanocenter, a chip fabrication project at the campus of SUNY Polytechnic Institute.
