Dan White of Apalachin is a freshman at SUNY Broome, near Binghamton. At first, he thought about attending the University of Buffalo, but decided to live at home, save money, and work at a local Subway sandwich shop. Dan admits he thought college would be like a harder version of high school. But it was definitely tougher than that.

ROCHESTER (WXXI) - Following the confirmation of Betsy DeVos, a billionaire school choice advocate, as U.S. Secretary of Education, parents, students, and community members across the state will march to demand education justice in New York.

BUFFALO (WBFO) - Governor Andrew Cuomo appeared at SUNY Buffalo State Tuesday to drum up support for his free tuition plan, the Excelsior Scholarship Campaign.  Cuomo's visit was the first stop on a tour to promote his proposed scholarship program. More than 600 students and supporters gathered for the rally. Governor Cuomo encouraged Buffalo State students to rally behind his free tuition plan.  

SYRACUSE (WRVO) - The Alliance for Quality Education says Gov. Andrew Cuomo is misleading the public in a debate about school funding. The school advocacy group has published a new report that criticizes the governor's proposed education spending plan and his attempts to defend it.

Zimpher Delivers Final State Of The University Address

More State University of New York students than ever before are completing their degrees. That's according to SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher, who delivered her final State of the University address Monday.

School funding advocates are concerned that Gov. Andrew Cuomo is setting up for another political battle over school aid next year in a little-noticed provision in his new state budget.

Binghamton City School District’s superintendent was dismissed last March. There have been a couple of interim superintendents since then, but now the district is searching for a more permanent leader. David Hawley is the president of the Binghamton School Board. He spoke with WSKG's Sarah Gager about the search, which he says will conclude with a selection in the Spring.
