HARRISBURG (WSKG) - Pennsylvania's Senate Democrats are calling for reforms to the commonwealth's long-standing system of using property taxes to pay for public schools. It's an initiative that's renewed nearly every session. But now, the group is calling for a special legislative session.

HARRISBURG (WSKG) -- At US Senator Pat Toomey's various offices in Pennsylvania and Washington, the phones have been ringing off the hook for days. 

ROCHESTER (WXXI) - New York voters will decide this fall whether to allow a judge to reduce the pension of public officials convicted of corruption. On Monday, the state legislature approved a constitutional amendment that would allow a judge to strip various state and local officials of their pension if they've been convicted of a felony related to their job.

SYRACUSE (WRVO) - Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner hosted a rally in downtown Syracuse to hear from refugees and immigrants affected by President Donald Trump’s immigration ban. The ban prevents citizens from seven countries in Africa and the Middle East from entering the U.S. for the next 90 days. Miner’s "Trump Tuesday" rally mirrors other protests around the country.

ALBANY (WSKG) - Eight protesters were arrested outside Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office Tuesday as they called for more money for legal aid services for the state’s poorest. Protesters chanted, “What do we want? Lawyers,” and blockaded an entrance to Cuomo’s suite of offices at the Capitol.

HARRISBURG (WSKG) -A proposal to extend the statute of limitations on child sex abuse cases is on a fast-track through the state Senate. It's the exact same measure as a bill that died in the House last session, and for that reason, it's likely to see the same resistance when it reaches the House this time around.
