Student Protest at Ithaca College Calls for Leadership Change

Diverse incidents have their way of spawning similar extreme displeasure—and so it was that students began demonizing their head of college. A theme purposely set up with stereotypes for their fraternity proved to be making matters worse, Alumni referring to Audrey subjected through unfavorable remarks during a campus meet.

It was clear that not only the student’s behavior alarmed those present but also the lack of intervention by the authorities. The protesters did not agree with the idea presented by Rochon and voiced their disagreement through carrying placards, quietly taking the stage, chanting.

The student government went on to pass a ‘no confidence’ motion and distributed ballot papers for students to vote accordingly. In addition, the faculty also said they would take similar action as the student government. The Board of Trustees listened to the concerns of the students, but the Board “abstained” from handing their own president down for the time being.

Instead, college staff assured to work together with Rochon in managing school discord, though students voiced that campus discord and new improvements could only be brought about by a changeover in leadership.
