Johnson said the meeting happened but kept the details of any spending talks vague, preferring to focus on confidence about winning the midterms.
Online ads, too
Beyond the printed pieces, ad trackers and platform records show America PAC spent about $207,000 on digital ads across Texas, Michigan, New Hampshire and Maine. Most of these were simple GOTV reminders, but one ad took a more dramatic tone, name-checking New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and warning that skipping the vote could let “socialism” claim victories — a blunt, attention-grabbing message.
Where this fits in Musk’s playbook
This small summer push is only a sliver compared with 2024: America PAC shelled out roughly $239 million last cycle, and Musk was the biggest donor of either party in that span. Still, Musk has publicly hinted he might dial back future political spending, saying at one point he felt he’d done enough — though what “enough” means can be flexible in billionaire politics.
