Family plans private homegoing, but fans can watch
Peabo Bryson’s family has arranged a quiet, invite-only farewell in Atlanta to celebrate the singer’s life — but they’re also giving fans a way to join in from afar. The family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and said they want friends and admirers to be part of the tribute, even if only virtually.
Private gatherings for loved ones
Close family and friends will gather on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 21, for a private remembrance. The formal Celebration of Life service will take place the next morning at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 22, at Antioch Baptist Church in northwest Atlanta. Professional arrangements are being handled by Murray Brothers Funeral Home of Atlanta.
Musical tributes from fellow artists
The program will include performances by notable artists who shared stages with Bryson over the years. Grammy-winning singer Regina Belle, gospel star BeBe Winans, and Grammy-nominated vocalist Ruben Studdard are set to offer musical homages — a fitting touch for a man whose voice was his signature.
Watch from anywhere
Although the service itself is not open to the public, the family will livestream the ceremony so fans around the world can tune in and pay their respects from home. No in-person tickets will be available — this one’s for the relatives and close friends, with the rest of us watching from our couches with tissues and earbuds.
A lasting musical legacy
Bryson’s career stretched across decades. He earned Grammy recognition and became famous for a string of R&B and pop hits, unforgettable duets and powerhouse ballads. Many remember his voice on beloved Disney songs like Beauty and the Beast and A Whole New World. He leaves behind a body of work that made him a fixture in American music; he was 75.
How to honor his memory
Instead of sending flowers, the family has asked that supporters consider making memorial donations to the Mr. Robert “Peabo” Bryson Student Scholarship Endowment Fund at Morris Brown College or to Antioch Urban Ministries. It’s a practical, long-lasting way to celebrate his life and help others follow in his footsteps.
